Destiny - A Rescue Success! ADOPTED!

E-mail Print PDF

Destiny is a very sweet, seven-years-young purebred Scottie girl.  Little Destiny was discovered last month living in a pup tent with her 70 year old owner, who had fallen on hard times after her husband passed away.  A good Samaritan helped Destiny’s owner find an apartment, but unfortunately, the apartment complex does not allow pets.  Destiny is now looking for a new forever home where she can be the only pet.  She is very loving with humans but is a very bossy Scottie girl and will not tolerate living with another dog.  Destiny enjoys her crate, is housetrained, loves to play with her toys and go for walks.  If you have a place in your heart for this dear little Scottie girl, please contact us.

UPDATE.  DESTINY HAS BEEN PLACED.

Tuffy - ADOPTED

E-mail Print PDF

I got the following e-mail from Janet Skinner with pictures of the 8 year old girl who she is fostering for the club.  Her owner lost her job and could no longer afford to keep her -- we came to her rescue and already have a home waiting for her over on the east coast!

It's a sad reminder of the effects of economic hardship; however, we hope for Tuffy that her new life will be full of joy!

Thanks to Janet for both sharing the photos and sharing her home with Scotties in need...

Tuffy in a Professional Pose on the Couch

I think Tuffy has made herself quite comfortable at her foster home!!

Believe it or not, Scotties can be hard to photograph.   No doubt that in this photo Tuffy is trying to show her good side!

Oh yes.  A blanket on the couch... Tuffy's definitely living it large at Janet's house!

Here's hoping that Tuffy enjoys a new future parents.

9 year old Scottie - ADOPTED

E-mail Print PDF

Earlier this month the following note was sent to club members.

Club members,

There is a nine year old male Scottie that is currently at Pam Hendrickson’s vet clinic in West Palm Beach.   He desperately needs a “forever family”.
He is a brindle boy, neutered, and current on all shots and blood work.  He is okay with other dogs but has not been around children so we don’t recommend a home with kids.

Please help find this boy a home.  Our Rescue Committee is on “overload” right now and we are doing everything possible to place three other rescues that have been turned in.  However, we have not been able to place this boy because of his age.

Please help find this Senior Scottie a home.

Well it's just a few days later and we got some GOOD news:

Great news group!

Our nine year old has been adopted.   We had good response from our club members and I believe he is now residing with his “forever family” in the Miami vicinity.
Thank you so much Pam Hendrickson for taking this dog in, doing all the needed vet work, and keeping him underfoot until a home was found.

Club President, Paul DeBene, spent many hours on this project as well as our other three rescues.  And Janet Skinner has had three rescues in her home over the last two months.

Thanks to STCTB members for taking action on this, and also to everyone  that donates to our rescue fund.

Laurie Slater

I think it is fair to say that the efforts of EVERYONE involved: Paul, Janet, Laurie, and Pam deserve to have their efforts bolded and highlighted.

Scottie Fostering and Rescue

A new Section on the Site!  Scottie Rescue!

Here at the Scottish Terrier Club, many of the members sacrifice much of their time to the cause of taking in Scottish Terriers that are in need of a permanent home.  I've tried to encourage the club to pass on some stories so that you can all see what hard work and dedication to the breed can accomplish.

The stories here won't cover every coordinated effort; however, our goal is to give you just a little insight into the positive work that the club does.

You can use the menu on the left or click here

The Rescue program is a very important and time consuming part of the club and often the recognition is not given.  It is very important to the Scottish Terrier Club of Tampa Bay that they support the well being of the breed in a socially responsible way!  Please see our club "manifesto"

If you would like to be a member and part of this effort please let us know!

If you are interested in adopting a dog, please fill in the adoption form or contact the club.

Finally, if you have adopted a Scottie and want to share his or her story we'd love to hear from you.  Send This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it a story or outline and we'll publish it right here on the site - you can send it as an HTML page or as a simple Word document format.
